LMNQL — Lower Main North Quadruplication Lite

The project

Lower Main North Quadruplication Lite (LMNQL) increases capacity on the lower Main North line. FR2 contributed with Geodata for the NSRU Alliance, including the Up Relief Extension scope.

“Quadruplication lite” describes getting a substantial share of the capacity benefit of four tracks without building four tracks end to end — extending relief lines and reconfiguring junctions at the points where the timetable is actually constrained. That makes the work a series of interventions at specific locations, each needing its own access strategy inside a busy corridor.
